Theater, Show, Performance : Anadolu Rock/Pop Concert in New England

ROCK'N ROLL COMES TO THE TURKISH VILLAGE

During the late 60s and early 70s in Turkey a new trend in popular music came into being which combined American Rock and Pop with Turkish village music.

A full Rock band with special guests on Turkish ethnic instruments will perform CLASSICS BY BARIS MANCO, CEM KARACA, ERKIN KORAY, MOGOLLAR AND MORE!

The synthesis of these styles produced a musical language different from the more dominant Arabesk style which represented rural migrants recently arrived in the cities. Anadolu Rock/Pop appealed instead to the more educated classes.

By the 1980s the style had faded in popularity but its classics continue to be played and remembered all over Turkey.

I was blown away. I went to high school with Grace and an adventure like this was a total surprise. It was a heartwarming read. By the end of the book, I felt like I knew her family like it was my own. Kudos

This cd is hauntingly beautiful. It is a very well researched collection of Armenian songs from Dersim (modern day Tunceli). The cd was recorded partly in Yerevan, Armenia. The production quality is excellent and has a somewhat layered quality similar

A decent recording of Aegean songs. Personally I prefer Muammer Ketencoglu's songs of the same region, but these are not at all bad.
